19 Things We Learnt From NINE discussion with the CEO of nHub NG

NINE - Network of Incubators and Innovators in Nigeria held a twitter session with the founder and CEO of northern Nigeria's first hub nHub David Daser this afternoon and here is everything we learnt from their discussion.

1. NINE -  Network of Incubators and Innovators in Nigeria is an organization that is working on enhancing the Nigerian entrepreneurial ecosystem by providing thought leadership, education, resources and networking to help members better serve their ecosystems, communities and regions.

2.  NINE's #hubThursday is a platform for hub managers/founders to share their experiences/stories of what it's like run a hub.

3. nHub Nigeria is the first tech hub in northern Nigeria and they are fast growing into the number one tech hub in West Africa.

4. David Daser, CEO of nHub Nigeria is a software engineer with over 14 years of experience and also has good knowledge of software architecture.

5. nHub started very little but has been able to grow into a community within two years.

6. Mr Daser picked Jos because he feels Jos is a good startup ground; that means bootstrapping would be quite easy here in Jos.

7. Dependency on government jobs, poor response from parents and the community, finding the right team, finance and lack of support from the government were among the problems they faced in the beginning.

8. The SSA to the state govt Dalyop Daniel played a huge role in linking nHub Nigeria to the government of plateau state.

9. nHub is focused on building engineers that would create tech solutions that would be shipped to the rest of the world.

10. nHub has built software for the military, companies in Lagos and other parts of Nigeria.

11. nHub is helping Plateau state government solve some of its problems through tech - empowering young people through projects for the agricultural ministry and the revenue board are ways they are doing this.

12. nHub is not just focused on creating an entrepreneurial culture in Jos. They are also interested in training people in software development and placing them in tech companies around the world.

13. Mr Daser's goal is to make Jos home to over 2000 software engineers and the go to hub for outsourcing software engineers.

14. nHub is getting a lot of partnership offers from around the world - some of their partners are Afilab, NTA Jos, ITech, SOS Children Village, BlueWhales Transport, NASA, 1% Club, Startup Arewa, Metta, etc.

15. nHub software engineers would be distributed across the world to solve problems in the near future.

16. nHub is launching in one other African country soon.

17. A lot is happening in the innovation ecosystem in northern Nigeria. Every region is witnessing tremendous growth and support from the governments - Nhub in Plateau State, Colab in Kaduna, enspireATV in Abuja among others.

18. Bankole Oloruntoba is playing a major role in helping hubs secure partnership around the world.
